First let me apologize, but i have a sort of weak knowledge of the legacy setting... i read the wiki article through and I am still not sure of exactly whats going on...
so the Sith, Darth Kryat, do away with the rule of two and control the galaxy more or less right now?
Right! The Sith have secretly lived on past Jacen Solo’s failing with the Rule of Two. Darth Krayt, instead of adhering to the Rule of Two and embracing a teaching from Vergere, decides to restructure the Sith with the Rule of One.
The dictate of the Rule of One (that One being the Sith Order itself) taught that there would be many minions, acolytes, adepts and lords with only one Dark Lord of the Sith. Darth Krayt believed he gave the Sith and their power a purpose, unlike Darth Bane who believed that power was its own purpose.Unlike the previous Sith principles, the Rule of One focused on obedience to the one Dark Lord of the Sith and thru this, to the Sith Order itself.
Around 127 ABY, the “One Sith” made their presence known openly under Krayt's leadership, with the result being the Sith-Imperial War (127-130 ABY) after the failings of the Ossus Project. The original intent of the Ossus Project was to use Yuuzhan Vong terraforming techniques to restore barren sections of Yuuzhan Vong War-devastated worlds.
Following the war, the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances surrendered, though surviving portions of its military reformed into the Galactic Alliance Remnant, intent on keeping up the opposition against the Empire and the “One Sith.”
Now with the Empire triumphant, it was time to remove the last obstacle of the “One Sith” (their ancient enemies) the Jedi. With the fall of Coruscant, the Empire's ruler, Emperor Roan Fel, had called on the Jedi to surrender and submit to the Empire. But the Jedi were now aware of the Sith's involvement in the war and refused to join them. They withdrew from Coruscant, yielding their Temple to their enemies, and holed themselves in their praxeum on Ossus.
Darth Krayt dispatched his Hand, Darth Nihl, on a devastating attack against the praxeum. But what came to be called the Massacre at Ossus was not the absolute victory he hoped for. Nihl managed to make several significant kills, especially one of the most prominent members of the Jedi Council, Kol Skywalker, scion of the very bloodline that had proven to be both the greatest boon and, later, the greatest impediment to Sith dominance. But the death of even a good number of Jedi did not make for victory. The Jedi were sent to flight, scattered, and all but exterminated once again.
Now that the Empire was truly triumphant, it was time for Darth Krayt to bring his plan to full fruition; it was time to claim the throne for himself. He launched a daring palace operation, marching with his cohorts straight into the audience chamber of Emperor Roan Fel himself, killing the man who sat on the throne (Emperor Fel’s double), and seating himself in his place. Seeing little choice, the Moff Council before him swore loyalty to Darth Krayt; and for the first time in more than a hundred years, a Sith Lord held the galactic seat of power.
After this moment there were two imperial factions those who swore loyalty to Emperor Fel himself, and those who swore loyalty to the Empire itself and in turn the one seated on it’s throne Darth Krayt.
Not really, but as I said… there are two imperial factions waging war against one another… as well as being at odds with the Galactic Alliance too.
They seem to be doing all right I guess, but their fate have not really been seen, however the Mon Calamari are a different story.
By the end of the Sith-Imperial War, the Mon Calamari were reduced from their equal status under the One Sith. Since then, the Mon Calamari assisted Alliance Admiral Gar Stazi, by supplying recruits, parts, supplies, and bacta. When Stazi stole the Imperious-class Star Destroyer Imperious, Darth Krayt took his frustration out on all of Dac's population. He ordered the inmediate extermination of ten percent of the Mon Calamari population and internment of the rest in work camps to provide an example of the consequences of betraying the Sith to the rest of the galaxy. The first act in the genocide ordered by the Emperor was the massacre of the Mon Calamari Council. However, in order to oppose the extermination of their people, the Mon Calamari Rangers were formed.
It’s understandable. It is a little complicated even for someone like me who has been there since issue #0.
Awesome! I think you should get one of those omnibus comics… the ones where they place several comics (or a storyline arc) into one book. I really, really enjoy Legacy comics.
