Grrr...That was the sound of Kyrin grinding her teeth together. She tried again. This time, she took very careful aim, taking the time to line up what she thought was the perfect shot. And then... ______________ 2 Swift Actions: Aim (Yeah, I know I don't get any benefit from it, but...) I remembered that Kyrin has the 'Point Blank Shot' feat. And Point Blank Range for Heavy Weapons is 0-50 squares. Which makes things slightly easier... Standard Action: Shoot to kill! Roll to Hit: 1d20-1= 19My luck is all over the place. Should I roll for damage? How many dice should I roll? What kind of gun is this? ______________ Initiative +8 Ref: 16 (flat-footed 13), Fort: 11, Will: 13 Passive Perception: 16 (Perception: 6)

"Well, what do we do?" Tala looks to the others, "Pull over or try and make a break for it?" EDIT: Her eyes widened. "Wow, nice shot, Kyrin!" She took a deep breath and let the Force flow through her. I can do this, I can do this, I can do this... She felt the speeder's mobility jump ahead. "Okay, now we're in business!" =========== Spending a Force Point to modify Pilot. (1d6=4)Now remaking my Pilot check. Second pilot check with Force Point bonus. (1d20+11=19)Made it that time...

(OOC: Wildknight told me that the Light Blaster Cannon on this vehicle does 2d10x2 damage. I couldn't get Invisible Castle to do multiplication sums, so I just rolled the 2d10. I scored 18, which I then need to double to get the result for damage. So, with 2d10x2, I scored 36 hit points worth of damage. Also, I rolled a critical hit. That means I deal double damage. So... I've just scored a grand total of 72 hit points worth of damage.)

Kyrin's shot blasted one of the swoops out of existence, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your outlook), the rider had no time to get off, and ended up as nothing more than an ugly smear on the wall and ceiling. The others, sensing they were in trouble since they hadn't managed to damage the speeders' army yet, and had lost one of their number, sped off... ****************************************************** The Enclave, as it turned out, was a heavily secured region indeed. Four Dreadnought-class battleships had been cannibalized to create the walls of the zone, which had a single gate (formerly the "belly" access door to the flight deck of one of the cruisers) guarded by a full squad of armed security men, and a pair of turrets. The team found themselves glad they had actual business here. Within the walls, a series of manor houses one tended to find on more pastoral planets, each with its own walls and security, surrounded an open central area which housed a small fleet of mobile battle platforms. They were old, but that didn't mean they weren't deadly... The gate of one of the houses was opening for them, and a man... surrounded by armed guards in surplus Storm Trooper armor (painted Azure) was coming out to meet them. Surely, this must be Reth'traw-rundo. ***************************************************** As it turned out, the man, who told them to call them Rundo, was rather urbane, and openly admitted to being nothing more than a "middle man" who connected people with those who could get them the goods they needed, particularly when those goods were hard to find. Obviously, it paid well. With only a single bodyguard (a sly-looking human who carried no visible weapons), he led them toward a large warehouse that sat on his property, separate from the house. "Funny thing about your item..." he said, in his strange accent, "I had another caller asking about it. A gentleman calling himself Lord Dalvayne. He asked me the strangest questions about your cargo." <OOC: Feel free to engage this guy in any kind of conversation you'd like, or just have him get your cargo, whatever suits you>

"He was deeply interested in the weight of the whole package. I wouldn't tell him, of course, it being no business of his. I still have no idea how he even discovered I was holding it. But he seemed to think that the weight was far too little for a powerful hyperdrive. He said the oddest thing... that the weight was much more appropriate for a person in a suspension chamber. What an odd comparison to make." He shrugged, then smiled as a pair of droids pushed a large hover-cart containing a crate roughly 3 meters long and half as wide. It was dubiously marked "EXOTIC PRODUCE: DO NOT OPEN"

"Hmm," Tala said, giving away nothing, but nodding to her compatriots. She suspected this was more exotic than even the label let on. In a way, she felt it was impossible for them to right every wrong in this rotten moon, but she was also already figuring out a way they could eventually liberate the subject of this crate, if it wasn't a powerful hyperdrive...

Urgently, Kyrin tugged at Tala's sleeve and whispered: 'Lord Dalvayne is one of three Crime Lords vying for control over Nar Shaddaa. He used to be an Imperial Inquisitor; you know, a Jedi Hunter; but he went renegade even before the battle of Endor and the death of Emperor Palpatine.'
'It used to be that Lord Dalvayne served Vulga the Hutt as his trusted right hand man. However, recently, Lord Dalvayne has decided to strike out on his own; he knows he can win more power and influence, that way.'
Before they left Coruscant, Kyrin had hunted for information; her search had been fruitful indeed. Since then, she had kept that to herself, hoarding secrets like a (Nelvaan) squirrel would go gathering nuts. It was probably her good luck that her companions had been patient with her so far; she'd worked with men who would have... er... well, let's just say that they would have been less patient.

(OOC: How does Jam know about the Chiss? I thought they were a mysterious race that no one knew anything about, at least in this period of Star Wars history.)

(OOC: Well, he's made a living of dealing with people and has likely seen all kinds of unsavory folk. I figure it's reasonable for him to know about the Chiss, especially in a post-Thrawn universe, assuming that Thrawn actually existed)

Jam felt that Rundo was being manipulative, to be certain, and like everyone on this moon, he had his own agenda. But he wasn't lying. Everything he said held the ring of truth, even if it was truth mentioned only for purposes of manipulation.

"We perform the rest of our duty and return this to its rightful owner," Tala says, adding, "But that does not mean it stays with him if it is not something legal even in the nebulous Hutt sense of the word."

'But where did you get this amazing Hyperdrive?' Kyrin asked, her face a mask of wide-eyed innocence. 'Who'd be willing to sell something that good?' ______________ Kyrin is attempting to change Rundo's attitude, make him more willing to talk, perhaps even to let slip more than he wants her to know.
