This isn't exactly my idea. It was a friend of mine, who had this idea of a star wars game only it's set in the milky way galaxy. The game lasted a couple of game sessions, and I was PO'd when it was canceled. There are two empires One empire that is lead by Force users, known as the Force Commonwealth, and a second, known as the Terran Empire, that is purely against force users.
The party will be heading toward an area of space that is known as 'the badlands' dealing with pirates, and the possibility of a war involving everyone. If the party's successful, they may form a third government. The Badlands is an area of space that is near the two Empires, but not claimed by either side. They usually end up sending their outcasts, and the unwanted there.
I honestly tried to see how this would work with SAGA edition, and had a lot of trouble converting the ships (Mostly the ship the party is supposed to get). Seems to be completely against building 'original ships'.
Anyway here's the basic information for the two Empires...I'm providing this to give you an idea of what life i like there (If you wish your character's to be outcasts from there).
TERRAN EMPIRE
Capital World: Earth
In the Terran Empire, force sensitivity is illegal, to the extent that they make every effort to suppress a force users connection to the force. To prevent force sensitives from controlling their empire, they employ technological devices designed to nullify the Force within a given area. These devices are placed within areas that are important Militarily, and Politically to prevent force users from influencing the Empire. They also employ force suppressing serums which are given to citizens of the Empire in six-month intervals. Refusing to take the 'vaccination' is generally treated as an act of treason, one so huge that not even the Imperator is immune to being accused, and charged, nor can he pardon someone accused of being such a traitor. The Empire is generally accepted as an Imperium there are rulers at every level of government, Mayors rule the settlements on the planet, Governors rule the planets they're assigned to, Senators (the Heads of State) rule over regions of space, and the Imperator (The head of Government) rules the Imperium, and can reassign the others to any region of the Empire as he sees fit.
FORCE COMMONWEALTH
Capital World: Oerth
In The Force Commonwealth, Force Sensitives (That is anyone with the Force Sensitivity Feat) are treated as nobles. They are immune from being conscripted, they are granted a commission upon enlisting in the armed forces, and can vote for or against laws for the Commonwealth. Non-force users are generally treated as second-class citizens. They don't get a say in political matters, they can be conscripted into the military, and cannot hold a rank higher than NCO. That is not to say that they are treated poorly, in fact they are treated rather well, they can own a home, they have a right to fair trial, and can even hold a job within the Commonwealth. The Commonwealths Government is generally accepted as a Magocracy, with Force Users holding all the power, and being lead by the most powerful of their number. Practice of the Darkside is discouraged, but not necessarily forbidden (Which might explain the Terran Empire's antagonism).
Rules:
All races in the core book are acceptable (I don't have any books with additional races) except Ewoks...All classes are also allowed; however you can't have a character from the Terran Empire start out as a Jedi (for obvious reasons). I'm using the Saga edition books. Characters are a 36 point-buy.
