In the beginning, there was nothing but the Titans and their will brought nothing but chaos and tragedy upon the world. When the children of the Titans, the Gods, bound themselves by Fate to mortals, they overthrew their parents and sealed them, bringing peace to the world. Now that peace has been threatened as the Titans escape. Only the mortal children of the Gods, the Scions, can use the powers of their ichor to battle evil Titanspawn and save the world once and for all…
To begin, what is your name, Scion? Who are you? And what are you? Write your name in the Book of Fate. (OOC: In short, tell me your character’s name, your concept, your pantheon, and who your divine parents would be.)

Each Scion, like the Gods themselves, like all of creation, has different raw talents. Some are physically mighty, like Hercules or Beowulf. Some have great charm or beauty, like Helen of Troy. Some, like Odysseus or Imhotep, had great mental power. What are your strengths? And where are you lacking?
(OOC: tl;dr. What are your Attributes...?)

George is tall, with tan skin and dark hair. While far from the strongest physically, mentally he's sharp as a tack. He prefers to outhink rather than out muscle his opponents. Good thing for him is, he can actually pull it off.

What is your Scion good at? What skills do they possess as they begin on the path to Godhood?
And, finally, your Virtues. Do you hold the same virtues as your pantheon, or do you walk a slightly different path?
(OOC: Abilities and Virtues.)

OOC: Your virtues are definitely lower than they should. You can add 4 more points, just make sure none exceed 4.
The Department of Defense offices, Washington D.C. Recent chatter suggests the usual threats of activity in the Middle East and Asia, some African revolutionaries throwing out the last set thereof. But George Lee’s mind had primarily been focused on trying to overcome the supply chain issues in Afghanistan, although he had found it harder to concentrate the longer he stared at maps of warlord territories and roads and trying to hash out a way to make that work.
“Lee, somebody from up high here to see you,” was the summons he got. Inside, there was his superior, Lt. Gen. Robert Jackson and another person he didn’t recognize, a younger woman (mid-20s maybe, or a well-preserved early 30s) with her honeyed brown hair in a bun dressed in formal military dress.
“Lee, this is Virginia Warren, she’s one of our contacts in the CIA. She has a big assignment for you. You ready to move up to the big leagues?”

George removed his glasses, and dusted the lenses. The glasses were mostly for show, he had contacts to correct his vision. But, people associated glasses with intelligence, and looking smart had certain advantages. Looking at them for a moment, he said, slowly, "It depends. What kind of assignment are we talking about here?" He would probably end up doing it, no matter what it was, but it was always a good idea to check the water before diving in.

"I need some logistics on a tactical problem in one of our theaters," she says, somewhat vaguely, "The paperwork will be on your desk shortly, should you accept. I need to see if you can come up with any solutions. Hypothetically speaking, of course."

"Of course." He said, fighting the urge to roll his eyes. Standard military double speak. Nothing new there. He said, "Sure, I'll do it. Just get me the info, and I'll see what I can figure out."

She smiles a cryptic smile. The paperwork is thick and full of schematics of weapons you aren't entirely familiar with, things that should be outside the realm of possibility: biologically superior forces, giants and other creatures you can only assume to be genetically engineered, technological weaponry bordering on the supernatural. The resources are divided between two forces appropriately named "friends" and "enemies." There is a suspected siege of a large mountainous base of operations by a force numbering in the millions, capable of replenishing their numbers through unknown means.
Suddenly, it all clicks. As the massive amounts of energy these...beings spend, the more they become entwined, the only way to effectively act would be to have lesser agents in the field, destroying supply lines, subverting forces, and providing intel while these...these... gods... held the ... fort...
It all became so clear. You've been burning the midnight oil, how it became midnight already was some surprise.
Miss Warren is at the cubicle, suddenly. Her smile is less cryptic now as you can glimpse, behind those ice blue eyes, a fraction of her blinding divine glory.
"I knew I chose the right man for the job," she says, "You have a great mind, George. And great cunning. I don't need to tell you that. You have the essence of the divine running through your veins. We're going to need great tactical minds, and I'm going to need your help, and to trust that mind of yours in the field. This will be a dangerous job, George, it must be secret, and you might not survive; can I count on your help?"
She produces a bag, "You will need these if you accept. The road is difficult ahead." Inside the bag is a small medal with a silver owl's face, a bronze pistol, and a spool of silver silken thread.
OOC: George unlocks his Epic Attributes! Epic Stamina: 1 (Holy Fortitude) Epic Manipulation: 2 (Overt Order, Advantageous Circumstances) Epic Intelligence: 2 (Tactical Planning, Fight with Your Head) Epic Wits: 2 (Adaptive Fighting, Instant Assessment)
You also get access to the following Birthrights: Owl Medal: Access to War Purview; add Legend to Charisma+Command checks Bronze Pistol: +1 Accuracy to 9mm Template; Never Needs Reloading Silver Silk Spool: Access to Animal (Spider) Purview; can act as Ariadne's Thread spell *One Secret 5-dot Birthright to be unveiled later*
* You gain Legend 3; Legend Points: 9 * Improve Command to 4. * You have 3 points left to spend on boons. Athena can teach you Animal (Spider) boons, Arete boons in any of her favored abilities (that you have at 3-dots or more, of course,) or War boons at your leisure.

George took the items one by one, carefully. He slipped the owl medal around his neck, slipped the spool into his pocket, and set the pistol on his desk. Most people would probably question whether this was possible, or some such thing. But George didn't. It was what it was. War was war, and that was one thing he could understand, and it didn't matter what the players were, he would do what he always did. Taking off his glasses, he pinched his nose, and said, "I'll do it. But, I'm going to need some information. I don't jump into any situation blind, and I'm not about to start now. What exactly am I facing here? What do we have going for us? And what is your real name?" Looking around for a second, he said, "I hate to pester you with questions, but I have to know. Oh, and one more thing..." He said, looking at the necklace, and taking the spool out of his pocket. "What can these do?"
OOC: He'd probably go with War 1(Blessing of Bravery) Animal(Spider) 1(Animal Communication. Hey, spiders make good scouts) Arete 1(Command)

OOC: You don't get every boon beneath the dot you purchase, so you could get the War 2 Boon (Battle Cry, Warrior Ideal is War 3.) Or you can get War 1 (Blessing of Bravery) and Arete 1. Every die helps, and being apply to apply an extra die on, say, Command, would probably be useful for a prodigy strategist. Oh, and btw, you have 5 Willpower from your Virtues. ===========
She takes your questions in stride, happy it seems to be asked, "I am Pallas Athene, and, George, I have adopted you as my Scion. This situation here is purely hypothetical. For now. But its a possibility I have been entertaining for a while. The Titans have begun to strain against their Tartarean prisons, and it is a matter of time before they take the fight to Olympus and the Overworld. The Titans themselves are still bound, but their agents are engaged in constant attempts to free their masters and to do what they can to prepare for their arrival. My kinsmen and women in the Dodekatheon, and the other Pantheons, cannot act in the World without forcing Fate's hand, so we have begun using the children of gods, Scions, to battle the Titanspawn and the Titans where we can't. The War, as it were, is more cold than hot, for now, but that could change any day.
"These are relics. And I can teach you how to utilize your divine heritage in their use. This medal is one given out since the first days of Athenian Democracy, and it is to one who defends the realm with wisdom and insight. The spool belongs to Arachne...an acquaintance of mine, its essence is tied to spiders, and, you may use it to focus your divine power towards finding a single individual. This will be most useful to you very soon.
"I am looking for one of my former agents. He was once loyal to the Gods but has, for personal reasons and his own foolish pride, abandoned the War and left to live in retirement. I swore I would never find him, but I have discovered that agents of the Titans are looking for him, to either eliminate him or to make him swear allegiance to them. You would need to find him, and you need to offer both my sincerest apologies and an offer to return to our service. He is Ὀδυσσεύς, but you would know him as King Odysseus Metis Laertiades of Ithaca."

OOC: Oh, ok. Fixed.
George's mouth fell open slightly when the woman revealed who she really was. Pallas Athena? The Greek Goddess of wisdom and war? Holy...
But, he recovered himself quickly, and said, "So, you need this.... Odysseus? As in the Greek hero of the Oddessy? Found? I don't suppose he was kind enough to leave a forwarding adress..." He stopped, when a thought occured to him. "You said this thread could help me find a single person. Could you show me how?"

“I would use it myself, but Fatebinding is very dangerous for someone like me,” she said with a hint of sadness, “You will find out more about that in time, but the applications of our powers can potentially bind us to the World and those in it. Those who don’t use their power or use them judiciously, or have limited pull like you do, can avoid the worst of them. Many of us, my Father included, think themselves able to escape Fate. I hope to, but I know better.”
“All you need to do is focus your mind on this one man, this one thought,” she says as you feel the raw power of your legend for the first time. The string tumbles out on its own accord, heading out the door.
(OOC: You have a 1-point Fatebinding with Odysseus.)
“Good luck,” Athena says, “Where you go, unfortunately, I cannot follow."
