I'm pretty firmly convinced that you need combat maps to make heads or tails of 4E (but with maps, its the smoothest running system I've ever played).

If a game does start out, I'm expressing interest too.

Well, if enough people show interest I'd be willing to give it the old college try. I've got that new 4E setting I've been working on anyway.
I'll have to try to see if there isn't some way to work out a rudimentary map, though... so much of what balances 4E's classes, etc, is access to area-affects and so on.

I've never gotten a chance to sit in front of the DM Screen for 4.0, so I'd be willing to play.

Now all we need is a GM....

Sounds like WK might be up to it if we have a group together. There seem to be at least three of us interested in trying.
I'll try to come up with a character (although I only have the core 3 rulebooks.)

With the exception of the Cleric (which got crazy-better after Divine Power came out), I think pretty much everything is balanced within the core material, so a character built from strictly the PHB will be a little bit more limited, but not underpowered.

Clerics being super-powerful, wow, never heard that before I'm guessing point buy for the stats, right? Also, what are people leaning towards in terms of concepts right now?

I'd either want to play a StarLock, Warden, or Bard. Basically I'm pretty open.

Actually my point was that Clerics in 4E kind of suck. Even with the additional stuff from Divine Power, the Warlord, Bard, and particularly the Shaman are much better.

So we've got Brainy leaning towards either Striker, Leaders, or a Defender, (thanks WK!) and Nightmare towards Defender.
I guess I could go for a Leader (Warlord or Cleric) or Controller (Wizard.) I could go either way. Goats, what are you interested in doing?
