I'm seriously considering running a Shadowrun game, but first I need to know if there's any interest. So, anyone interested?

I would play Shadowrun, but bear with me, I'm still a bit of a newbie however.

Sure will, since you've been helping me so much with Scion.

My current concept is "Russian Ork Heavy Weapons Adept." Who will basically be the Heavy from Team Fortress 2.
"Dey tink dey can outsmart me... maybe... *sniff* maybe... But I have yeyt to meet somevon who can outsmart boo-let!"
I am, for the moment, going to assume 400 BP.

Is there any possible way to monkey the mechanics to speed up the combat round? I love the Shadowrun setting, but I find the combat round to be slow to the point that I lose interest when playing table top... I can only imagine trying to do it play-by-post.

And good assumption. 400 BP is correct.

You certainly have a point. It IS slow in combat(which is slightly balanced by the fact that combat doesn't neccisarily last very long) Well....hmmm.... maybe it's just the lack of sleep, but I can't really think of anything right now. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear it.

Well, here's an idea... Do away with Damage Resistance tests entirely, instead just make it an opposed test. That will take away some of the dice rolling, and make combat run that much smoother. Armor just takes away from the Damage Value of the weapon instead.
Plus, if it's alright with you guys, I could deal with attacks aimed at you so you don't have to make those rolls EVERY time someone shoots at you. Or you guys could roll them ahead of time.
That cuts down on the dice rolling, which is what tends to slow things down the most.

Those are some solid ideas. Anythings that cuts down on the amount of "roll-counterroll" (as long as it doesn't undermine the system entirely), is going to speed things up immensely.

Coolio. Sounds good then.
Although I have to admit, part of that came from the rule book, so it wasn't all my idea.

This is a rough attempt for me to make something that feels like what I'm going for. It might be woefully un-min-maxed, but I'm still wrapping my head around the rules. At the very least the BP count should be 400.
As a note, my first major in-game investment will be in a heavily tricked out machine gun. But that, I suppose, will have to wait.
