I don't want to give away a whole lot about the setting because I want it to be fresh as you all discover what's going on, so here's some basic information about where you'll be bustin' monster skulls.
The game will take place in Orlando, Florida. What better home base for all kinds of supernatural creatures? Tourism is high, Orlando holds the nation's second largest university, and is a veritable melting pot of cultures (although some are more common than others). The point is, of course, that if someone were to attempt to hide in plain sight, this is the place.
Not all monsters are evil, of course. For every Sasquatch there is a Harry, every Samara a Flabber, and every Predator an E.T. Monsters, like Humans, are looking for a place to call home. Also like Humans, monsters have wildly varying motivations and are prone to all kinds of excess. Due to their supernatural nature, Monsters remains hidden; Humans have a way of convincing themselves that things are not as they truly are. It is only after encountering monstrosity first-hand can a Human be aware of the world around it. Even then, however, there is little to do. That is, there is little to do unless you're one of the few that, for whatever reason, are able to stand up to the Monsters.
