I'm glad to hear it ma'am. It'd be a shame for someone to ruin this solemn moment of rememberance for Juan. My name is Ron Borensen, I was the resource officer at Carver Middle when Juan went ther. Your son was good boy, Mrs. Pardo. I want you to know if you need anything in these troubling times, I am at your service.

"I thought you looked familiar," Mrs. Pardo said. "Juan used to talk about you a lot."
Mr. Pardo does a sudden double-take. "Wait. You're Tristan Priest. You're the Tristan Priest! I own a small bookstore across town; your books saved our business! The name's Carlos; nice to meet you!"
Mrs. Pardo, seeing that her husband is distracted, continues speaking to Ron. "You know what, meet me at Starbucks tomorrow afternoon. In the Florida Mall. I need to talk about some things."

Ron smiles politely and puts his hand on Mrs. Pardo's shoulder comfortingly. "My shift ends at 4:30. I'll meet you there."

"Glad to hear it, Mr. Borensen," she said. "Father, maybe you should come, too. It might be good to have a priest there with the types of things I need to get off my mind."

"Of course," Ben smiles, "See you all there."

Tristan dipped his head in acknowledgment. "I am the same, yes. I'm a bit ashamed to hear that my books are the only thing keeping your doors open, though, with so much great literature out there that people could be reading. I'd love to see this store of yours, some time. Small stores are the best kind; the better to get the personal attention you need when you're looking for just the right thing to read..."

"Oh, absolutely! Here, take my card. Maybe you can do a signing or something!" Carlos digs into his George Costanza wallet and pulls out a business card, handing the card over to Tristan. Mrs. Pardo then turns to her husband, shooting him a look over the way he's reacting when considering the situation at hand..
"Honey," she says. "Let's go. We're going to meet with Father Carpenter and Mr. Borensen tomorrow afternoon. Will you be there?"
"Absolutamente," he responds. "Mr. Priest... actually, is Tristan okay? You should come, too."
As Carlos asks his question, the sound of a car engine starting up and pulling away can be heard in the distance.

"Tristan was good enough for my parents," it wasn't, of course. Tristan Priest was a pseudonym, "its good enough for friends as well. I'll be there."

"Excellent!" Carlos looks very pleased, but tones himself down. "It'll be good to see you there." He and his wife then take a moment at the grave and leave the cemetery.

In the immortal words of almost every girl I've ever checked out at a bar... "move along. move along."

A day has passed, and Ron, Tristan, and Ben find themselves at Starbucks. The mall isn't too crowded, due to it being the off-season, but there are enough people where a cop, a priest, and a writer can meet together and not just be a bad set-up for a joke. Mrs. Pardo walks up to the group. "I apologize for my husband; he's off shopping. He can be a bit absent-minded. So I'm sure you have questions...?" The way her voice trailed off led the three to believe that she has no idea what could come up and is also ready to fill in any gaps should they be necessary.

Well, I suppose my main questions would be how are you holding up, and what can we do to help alleviate your suffering?

Since the discussion wasn't about Tristan, he found his mind wandering. It was possible that there was a story forming here, but until he had more details, there was no way of knowing whether it would be worth sticking around for.
