Your lounging about, resting in your apartment, TRYING to drown out those ancestor spirits, when you recieve a call on your commlink. The voice has been electronically altered, and the signal is untraceable, especially with your limited skills. "Good evening, Yushiko. I have a proposition for you. I promise it will be worth your while, both in experiance and in nuyen."

Yushiko didn't want to seem too eager, but she wasn't stupid. The money she had wasn't going to last forever. "You know I don't do all that bang bang, blow stuff up mess, right? I do magic... spirits a specialty."

"Yes yes, of course. But I'd just as soon not discuss this over comm link. The walls have ears and all that. Meet me at Star Bar on West North Street in one hour. Don't be late." He said, and the link went dead.

Looking at her phone and then shrugging, Yushiko pulled her coat on and headed out the door, calling down to the lobby to have her car brought around.
"I sure hope they don't put me with a bunch of brain-dead sots..."

Its a half hour drive to the bar. It's a nice, upscale establishment. Kinda cheesy though. Grey floor, black ceiling with white lights, metal furniture, it gives the image of space. Well, it's supposed to. Really, it gives the image of a bad theme restaurant. Walking in, you see a couple dozen people of all metatypes, and you realize that you have no idea who your looking for, as the caller didn't give any information.

Yushiko wasn't really all that concerned; if they wanted her services, they'd make sure they found her. Making her way to the bar, she ordered a bottle and found a place to sit. Even though it was cliched, she sat somewhere that let her keep an eye on as much of the room as possible. In her line of work, it never paid to let anyone get behind your back.

As you watch the bar, you notice a man, dressed in a black suit, dark hair and eyes, with a rose on his lapel standing at the bar. Seeing you, he walks over. "Yushiko. Glad you could make it. My employers are in a bit of a situation, and someone with your skills could help us all greatly, if your interested."

She rose, smoothing her coat. "If the risk-to-reward ratio is right, I'm always interested, Mister...?"

"Johnson. And it will be, I'm sure. The situation is this. My employers had a break in not to long ago. Several key files were stolen, and the team responsible has fallen off the Earth. Naturally, we had our mages seek them out, but they were unable to. Someone was hiding them, and was using wards and spirits to do it. That's why we called you. You, and the rest of the team are to hunt down the team, get the files back, destroy any copies and make sure they don't reveal any information that was in those files."

She nodded. As a professional mage, she understood that a lot of her work would be similar... countermanding the magical capabilities of others. "Assuming the team is sufficiently competent, I believe that sounds reasonable. You have no idea who these people were?"

"Other than they were working for one of our rivals, no. They were smart, and took out our surveilance before we could get more than a rather bad picture. However, before they were completely lost, our mage was able to track them to the outskirts of the city. Unfortunately, after that his watcher was destroyed, so we have nothing specific beyond that."

She nodded briefly. This, too, was common. After all, it was cheaper (and usually smarter) to hire street runners to do your dirty work, than to use your own personnel.
"I'll do what I can."

"Alright, here's the team." He says, and passes over a list with several names and contact info on it. It also reccomends destruction after commiting it to memory. "Oh, and there's the issue of pay. The team shall recieve 10000 once the job is done, plus another 5000 if you manage to do it in less than two days. I'll be contacting you in two days for a status update, for the record. Any more questions?"

She shook her head. "No, no more questions. Its time to work." She slid her sunglasses on, leaving the liquor bottle untouched.

The man smiles, and walks out the bar.
Take a karma point, and get ready for the real story.
