Oh...if you want to keep us from the events of the original Trilogy, I got an idea for that: Set it between Episodes three and four. I tried that once, no Rebel Alliance (I established it as an underground political movement at the time), The Galactic Empire was busy establishing it's rule over planets that were part of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Also...if you really want to get away from the plot, I got an idea from a campaign my friend tried, not sure if SAGA would support it as he had to build whole new ships for the setting.

Actually if you look at my pitch, that's basically when it's set - the end of 3. I figure it'll be somewhere in the span between 20-17 BBY, but isolated enough from the Core that the Rise of the Empire isn't a direct problem for you guys for a little while into the campaign.

Go ahead and toss out a sheet or at least your concept. Maybe it'll help get people's attention. And by the way, what I was really objecting to was how much PLOT there is going on in the Expanded Universe inbetween everything, which makes it very hard to plot out your own adventures without bumping elbows with canon every few minutes.

Yeah that's why I basically just throw canon out the window when I GM...call it an 'Alternate Universe', where I can say 'I don't care what books you read, this is what's official in my game,' and I'd be correct in saying it. For example I can claim the Yuuzhan Vong war never happened, make no reference to the New Jedi Order novels, or any novel set after RotJ. Most players don't like me GMing for it, but it makes it easier to set up a campaign for Star Wars...easier for me anyway.

I'll throw my hat into the ring. I think I'd like to play as a Bothan noble.

Thats why I'm a big fan of just taking a certain element (say, the movies, or the Knights of the Old Republic games), and making them "the canon" for the game, and tossing everything else. It eliminates a lot of problems and arguments about what "really" happened (due to all the inconsistency in the materials). Anyway... I'm going to drop you a PM about my character idea Thu.

So, WK, Manticore, and Comic so far, eh? Shaping up to be a fine party. And we can always use a Bothan.

I'll be going soldier, maybe ex-Republic Navy, my friends offsite banned me from playing a Jedi as I keep turning them into Darksiders before they even hit level 10...plus it's after episode three so I guess Jedi are out of the question anyway.

Do we roll for abilities or do you want to use a point-buy system?

Not necessarily... At least 100 Jedi survived. Some of them might well be hidden aboard the flight. Though a soldier would be useful for the group as well.

Oh yeah...that reminds me are you using the Maneuver system for ship combat?

I'll probably point-buy just for simplicity's sake, though I might give you a couple extra points - the standard array you can manage with 25 points is a bit weak. As to vehicle combat, I'm just working straight out of the core book for Saga, if and when it comes up. [and it might]

Ok the Maneuver system's in the Starships source book. I was only wanting to know because I was considering having my character act as the pilot (which works with the Ex-Republic Navy background), and that system would require me taking the same feat over-and-over just to get competent.
