Ah. Yeah, working pretty much entirely out of the core book. Most of the action will likely be personal-scale anyway, but there might be some ship-to-ship action happening, so having some piloting skills certainly wouldn't hurt.

Can I use the 'Master Manipulator' talent tree from 'Galaxy of Intrigue'?

I don't have GoI just yet so I really can't say either way. As long as you give me an overview of what you're looking at I can probably okay it, I don't usually worry too much about that sort of thing. I just don't have the book myself yet, but I'm willing to work with you.

As for the point buy, I recommend 32. It seems to represent a sort of "sweet spot" where most players can get the character "good enough" without going crazy (for most players, it will still be a big inner struggle if they want to spend half their points to get that one 18...)

Sounds good to me. I can see how it could end up in a nice spread. I was thinking about 30 anyway, so 32 works out nicely.

Update: I'm now planning to also run a much smaller game focusing on a pair of Jedi Padawans in the Clone Wars. Same rules in terms of attribute set-up. There would be room for a couple clones or other support personnel, but I intend it to be a smaller game that I would GM personally [whereas I would still be very grateful for a co-GM on the main game we've been discussing]. So no more than four players. The basic plotline would be that one of the two Padawans has lost their Master and been assigned to the Master of the other to bridge the gap until a new Master can be found to teach her, so that she isn't left without guidance in the middle of a war. The Jedi Master would be an NPC, who would of course be there to guide the Padawans and support them where possible - though of course, a lot of the action would be up to the apprentices - NPCs are never reliable in a pinch ;D. It might cross-over in VERY limited capacity with the main game, as, after all, the Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire will have an affect on both games.

I may or may not do the former, but I'll definitely come up with a young Padawan!

Are you still doing the first idea?

Yeah, still planning to pursue the first idea, but I also want to do a smaller Clone Wars story.

Got two solid sheets for the first game now [Comicfan and Wildknight, consider the numbers side of your sheets approved - both look fine. No objections on the system side of things]
So far that group has a Soldier and a Scoundrel, and I know the Scoundrel is intending to build a spacer-type character. So if you're interested in joining that group, those will be your teammates [in case you're the type who worries about party dynamics and a unique role mechanically] From the fluff-side, WK has said that his character likely sympathizes with the Jedi and is planning to use the information he gathers as part of this project at least partially to help hide Jedi in areas outside the reach of the Empire. So any Jedi-class characters might be able to tie into that fluff themselves.

Ok I'll just go for an Ex-Commando...I'm sure Clone Troopers weren't the only ones involved in ground combat.

Ok I'll just go for an Ex-Commando...I'm sure Clone Troopers weren't the only ones involved in ground combat. Its mentioned in a number of places that The Republic used both mercenary troops and soldiers from planetary militias, because it wasn't always practical to move Clone armies around (and their numbers were somewhat limited). Military officers (both Naval and Army) were also generally not clones. The only thing I don't understand is why there were any mercenary troops or planetary militias in the first place, when they claim that there hasn't been a war in the galaxy for thousands of years...
