So I'm guessing he wouldn't know anything about the Chiss?

Unless he has some particular reason to have been in their territory, or something.

I'm going to guess that this untrained Knowledge roll of 15 isn't enough. Well, Jam is still the type to be skeptical of newcomers, friendly or not, so the actions remain; I'll just change his intent to being general suspicion

Re: Chiss Nobody has ever heard of Chiss, and Thrawn hasn't shown up (yet, anyway). The Chiss are still out there doing whatever the Chiss do. However, its hardly unusual for your characters to see/encounter species they don't recognize (there are thousands of sapient species in the Star Wars galaxy), and near-humans with slight variations like skin color aren't at all unusual. For the Thrawn fans out there... he will be showing up, so keep your pants on. *is a Thrawn fanboy* Ooh, can we have a crossover with Rogue Squadron and/or Wraith Squadron at some point? Those are some of my favourite Expanded Universe books so I'd really dig that.

Never read them, because I hate Corran Horn with a passion that cannot be bridled. So, the likelihood of a crossover with characters you'd actually recognize is pretty limited.

Huh, well... Corran Horn is a Marty Stu, but Star Wars canon is full of Marty Stus and Mary Sues. He's not even the most obnoxious one there is. (Note: Jacen Solo gets that dubious honour.) (Note: However, it is worth noting that I haven't read any other books apart from the X-wing series where Corran Horn is a main character. It's possible that he's much more obnoxious in some of the other books and I don't really know what I'm talking about.) The X-wing books are good, anyway. I'd recommend them.

I can't take Corran Horn's "I'm better at everything than everyone else."
He out-pilots Wedge. He out-wisdoms Luke He out-criminals Han. He's ridiculous.
I don't know if I'd say Jacen is the worst Marty Stu in all the fic. There are a whole lot of them to choose from. I'd certainly put Corran Horn in contention with the worst. Jacon Solo, I could have done without, but at least some of the things they did with him made a sort of sense from a story-tellers perspective. I mean, somebody had to be the new Sith Lord. The fanbase just can't seem to conceive of a Star Wars Galaxy without the Sith.

Well, like I should have said: I've never read any of the books where Corran does anything criminal (there's one time in the X-wing books where he goes undercover, but his cover identity consists of him standing there saying nothing while one of the women does the talking) or becomes a Jedi (he realises he has force potential in one of the X-wing books, and he tries to use the Jedi mind trick, but he fouls it up so badly that he nearly gets himself killed) and although he's one of the best pilots in the squadron there are others who are just plain better than him (Wedge Antilles, Tycho Celchu and Bror Jase to name but a few.)
So yeah, even though Corran Horn was a Marty Stu starting from his first few books he was at least bearable. I can put up with him. (However... Isard's Revenge goes way too far: Corran Horn takes out an Imperial base all by himself.)
I didn't say Jacen was the worst Marty Stu- I just found him to be the most annoying.

The only time he ever does anything criminal is when he goes undercover. Which leads me to the next thing. He's also a Supercop!

Well, it seems to me that a lot of these characteristics were always part of the character, but they only got exaggerated and made unbearable later on... But yeah, I take your point. Still, the X-wing books are highly ranked in my list of favourite Expanded Universe stuff (along with the Thrawn trilogy, the Hand of Thrawn and some of the Comic Books). Hey, maybe you should try reading "Starfighters of Adumar"? There's no Corran Horn in that book (not even as a very minor character), just Wedge Antilles and three other pilots who've been roped into acting as diplomats for plot-important reasons, with more jokes and laugh-out-loud moments than any other Star Wars book I've read. ;D

Are we going to carry on with this? It's been almost two weeks... Who are we waiting for? Brainstem?

I'm waiting for a response to the thread; not much to contribute without being redundant, iirc.

Well then, I guess it's up to Wildknight to decide whether he wants to continue this game. *Shrug*

I don't know. I'm honestly torn. I really like the characters everyone has put together, and I'm still psyched about this storyline, but I'm a bit frustrated with the slow pace of things (which is as much my fault as anything else... I've been having trouble finding time to post in all my games lately).

Ah, right. I know I'd like to continue this game but, really, my opinion doesn't matter. It's up to the GM. And I know as anyone how difficult it is to keep going with a game where the initial spark of enthusiasm is just gone. So, I hope you still want to carry on with it, but I'm not holding my breath. It's your decision.
