G-Canon is too inconsistent for me. The Force Unleashed is repetitive as a game, especially the last level. I used cheat codes to get through it just to see the story. I liked the book much better. It was cool to be a Force Wielding Superhero. I think I would have liked it more if I had better than a PS2, but that wasn't needed to check it out.

Ah... aside from the Force Powers being utter nonsense, the story of TFU was very weak, and the gameplay got dull after 5 minutes *shrugs*

If I pick up anything with the "Star Wars" name on it, I can deal with the fact that it busts G-Canon (my argument isn't with alternate views of Star Wars, its with fans of Star Wars that refuse to acknowledge that things like TFU and KotOR, cool as they are, cannot possibly be reconciled with the movies). Knights of the Old Republic was horrific in its violation of the G-Canon, but may be my favorite Star Wars "experience" of all time.

Its not about what levels of canon I can accept... its about the fact that I can't handle bad storytelling (which pretty much sums up my entire problem with the PT vs. the OT, as well).

Ok, my first thought with this was... "Ho! Ho! Ho! Green Giant," due to the fact that Hutts have a deep voice. But then, due to the time of year, it became, "Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas." Either way it made me smile.

Well yes, nonsensical powers, but the only way one man could take on so many enemies at once. I just considered it like James Bond. I don't consider it cannon, just a fun ride.

The story, in game, is weak. That's why I like the book so much better.

I'll certainly agree about the gameplay.

Well, I don't think that episodes I to III can be reconciled with episodes IV to VI. I just take each thing in it's own box. And put together, the Star Wars Universe is a warehouse where you can pick and choose what you like.

I also agree with your opinion of KotOR. That had a story that truly intrigued me and honestly might be what I would call my most trusted Cannon.

Yeah, certainly. It just comes to the fact that just because it says Star Wars doesn't mean it's good. I hate it that people just try to make money off of something by Brand Name alone.

The problem with the Prequels, when it comes to the Force, is that it is a completely different phenomenon, and I'm not just talking about midichlorians. It's also the lightsaber fighting and all of the other powers. The Force and special effects (fantasy stuff) dominates, where as science fiction takes a back seat. I think that's where people disconnected, along with the fact that the script was dry and the relationship talk was so cheesy.

Anyway, I'm done blabbing. Toodles

Saga Edition isn't even good Cannon either.

Canon = "genuine" stuff in a fictional mythology (in this case)
Cannon = archaic gunpowder artillery

I have to second that. The ORIGINAL KOTOR though. The Tales of the Jedi series! With Ulic, Cay and Exar Kun… overall my favorite Star Wars stories (besides Legacy).

In my opinion, Star Wars canon has got to the point where you can pick and choose whichever version you like best. And, as always, the GM's word is final.

To an extent, thats exactly correct. The problem is that certain elements are incompatible, and its usually the movies (and particularly the OT) that are incompatible with other elements.

Then theres the matter of personal preference; I'm just not a fan of over-the-top force powers. Jedi (in the movies) aren't invincible... they can be gunned down by a single unit of Stormtroopers. Not that impressive. IMO, once you make Jedi these invincible kung-fu ninja badasses that can slaughter normal people by the hundred and walk through walls... its just not fun anymore. I mean, why EVER be, or tell stories about, anyone or anything that isn't a Jedi in that kind of a universe?

Exactly why the Greeks wrote about Gods and Demi-Gods, normal people seemed boring by comparison.

Saga toned down Jedi compared to RCR, but still, I think they have an edge. In a game system, all characters should be on par with one another. In a book, the story should be strongest. So, characters like 3PO and R2 work well.

Jedi should be central to the Star Wars stories. They can even be over the top. But I want my 15th level Bounty Hunter to be on par with your 15th level Jedi Master.

Actually, the Greeks primarily told stories about heroes who, despite having no greater powers than other men, defied the gods and other men of power.

The way Force Users are presented in the majority of the EU, they're worse than the gods of myth... great Star Wars characters like Han Solo, Wedge Antilles, Boba Fett, etc. are nothing by comparison and, IMO, they are a lot more similar to the heroes of Greek myth than Secret Apprentice.

It just makes things uninteresting to have force users so overpowered. There's nothing exciting about it- nothing to keep you on the edge of your seat- you can usually see where its going.

You mean like the Clone Wars cartoon, where we know that the person isn't likely to be killed either because they're in Episode III or because they're a Jedi?

Seriously, when was the last time a Jedi died in that show? The Rodian that the bounty hunter killed? Not that I really care, as long as Ahsoka bites the blaster bolt in the end of the series.

My bad. I was just thinking about the stories of Hercules and Zeus and all the other Gods. I don't have a degree in Greek mythology, but I thoughts that's how they did most of it.

Eh, when it comes to most stories we know the outcome. Especially movies. Sure, sometimes they throw in twists and turns and even give a surprise ending. But I go to see a movie or read a book (not that I really read books) for the journey, not the end.

The Jedi are super characters in the Clone Wars cartoon. Not that I care, as I like to watch it anyway. Still, I totally get what you're saying.
